How to change your Favicon on Wordpress

7:21:00 PM |
If you want to change your default favicon, this is the right place. In this post, I'll show you how to change / add your favicon on your WordPress website.

A favicon is typically a graphic 16 x 16 pixels square and is saved as favicon.ico in the root directory of your server. You can use a favicon with any WordPress blog on a web server that allows access to the root directories.

Step 1: Go to your theme editor and select header or header.php

Step 2: Search for the line of code that contains favicon. Overwrite it, if it exists, or add the following code below the <head> HTML tag then save it.

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="<?php echo get_stylesheet_directory_uri(); ?>/favicon.ico" />

Step 3: upload your favicon.ico to your WordPress folder using either file manager or ftp client. Then check again by entering http://yourwebsitename.com/favicon.ico

Step 4: Refresh your blog and the miracle will happen

Note: delete your browser's cache if you see no change.

How to Promote my Personal Blog?

9:59:00 PM |

I started blogging since 2009. It was all about computer such as Linux, Windows, Technology solution... At the first time, there was no view at all in the my blog. Until now, there are extremely more views per day in my personal blog. Not so good, not so bad. However, it keeps growing as I have many things to learn and many mistakes to fix.

My first purpose of starting to become a blogger is to save my works somewhere, so I have a chance to take a look at it again, and maybe there's someone who will need my solutions. Indeed, it helped a lots of people who got the same problem as mine although I just had a little knowledge in web design. Actually, it doesn't matter much.

I think the most important thing if I want to be come a blogger is to love what I write no matter what happens. When loving my work, I will create unique information that nowhere else has. That will become a part of me, a trait of me. That is the one which will make my blog more interesting to the reader who has the same hobby or problem.

* Writing what I love just attracts some audiences, but write what brings the most benefits for the common reader will definitely make more impact. For example, I can write about celebrities, politic, economic or whatever. However, it is easy to be criticized when getting involve in those subject. Anyway, my blog must have some real values in order to attract the reader.

Then, the next step is to bring your blog to search engines (Google, Yahoo, Ask...), so people can find my works no matter where they live.

Next, googling the problem that I am solving is a good way to promote. I registered as a member and posted the solution together with the link. It really helps, most of my views comes from those pages. I can find websites, forums or Facebook pages that have the same character with my work, then I help to solve their problems. It is a good way because I can also improve my knowledge by solving the problem.

The fourth step is to share my content on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest regularly. This method can attract some readers with the same hobbies or problems as mine.

There are some other methods that can help me to gain the audience such as email subscription, paid ads, asking friends to introduce my blog...

In addition, I think that the common way to gain more audience in a short a mount of time is to start a charity campaign or a competition with prizes or action which involves in what you are writing about. After that, let's ask your friends or post in social media to promote it. By doing in this, I can gain a huge amount of like and share on Social Media.

In general, having a good content and some basic knowledge in SEO and search engine can absolutely bring to your to the certain level in the digital world.

Feel free to discuss about How to promote your blog, or if you have some useful tips, please let's me know.
